The course curriculum is composed of 2 major sections:
Clinical hours will occur in the morning and participants will have the option of studying in the acupuncture, herbal medicine, or massage and bodywork departments of the University Hospital. Classes will be held Monday-Friday.
Students will observe senior level doctors working on a variety of patients with diverse conditions.
Students will be taught numerous diagnostic and treatment skills during clinic hours. In the acupuncture and bodywork departments students may be invited to treat patients. Typical conditions we will observe include cervical disc disease, lumbar disc protrusion, Bells palsy, arthritis, post-stroke paralysis, and various pain syndromes. In the herbal medicine department students will be able to decide between various disciplines such as gynecology, gastro-enterology, oncology, immunology, and more.
Classroom lectures will occur in the afternoon from 1:30-4:30 pm. Lectures will occur 4 times per week. Each class will address a common disease and discuss the etiology, pathology, pattern differentiations, and treatment protocols. Students will receive a variety of lecture topics that cover acupuncture, herbal medicine, and bodywork. They will also be updated on the most recent research that is being done in research centers associated with the university.
For a 2-week program the total time in clinic would be 30 hours, classroom time would be 24 hours.
A month long program would supply 60 hours of clinic and 48 hours of lecture.
